Finally, flying again

We went to the OROC launch at Brothers this past weekend. Irene decided to go with us just to see what it was all about. We got there late Friday and set up. Missed all the big efforts of the EXers but got to talk to Mike Fisher and meet Earl from Earl's Rocketry in Corvalis.

Mark and John set up near the entrance but we had to go almost to the far west end to find a slot big enough for the trailer and the pickup. We brought the pickup to haul the generator.

Saturday was hotter than Hades. By noon we had the generator running to power the airconditioner. I have got to figure out a way to reduce the noise on that beast.

Spent most of Saturday working on pain control but Mikki flew her new Snitches in a drag race with Grant Gholston and Trenton Hornsby. One of them disappeared in the scrub but turned up later in the lost-and-found box. She was very happy about it's return.

Early Sunday I put up the 3" Patriot on an H128. Sweet flight! Arrow straight and recovered just a couple of hundred yards from the pad. Earl helped keep a good line on it so finding it was relatively simple. It is small enough to disappear in the brush.

Later I flew the Phantom 4038 on a J-285 Cesseroni. Awesome! I love the ease of assembly of the motor and it is an almost perfect match for the Phantom.

I was all set up to track Earl's Bullpup but it suffered a case failure and came down in pieces, he never did find on of the fins.

Sunday was turning out to be even hotter than Saturday so we packed up and were on the road by 1:30. All in all, a great trip.
